Farm sees stock rise at market

A FARM near Llangadog has scooped top prize at the first WelshPremier Beltex show and sale to be held at the new Welshpoollivestock market.

Auctioneer Richard Evans, of Welshpool Livestock Sales, said hewas "delighted with the quality of stock shown and offered for saleby the vendors, who were well rewarded by the travelling purchasers.

Judge David Thornley awarded the male and Supreme Champion to theCennen Flock a yearling Ram Cennen Nut Cracker bred by GJ & RAWilliams, of Blaencennen Farm.

Sired by Llwynbrian Lawyer, Nut Cracker went on to achieve1800gns, purchased by I & J Evans, Llwyn Hywel Farm, Llanilar.

From the same flock was the first-placed ram lamb and reservemale champion, Cennen Prince, which was secured with a bid of 800gnsby D L Jones Ddol, Llanbadarn Fynydd.

Top price of the day was achieved by Michael Owen of the GlantreFlock, when a yearling ram, Glantre Napolean sired by AiryollandLoyality, was sold for a sale-topping Pounds 2,100. Mr Owen went onto sell 16 yearling rams.
